Luciana’s Portrait, Finishing Up

Well I’ve been very tardy with my posts. I have a million excuses but they are just excuses. Anyway, I’ve joined in an eight-day challenge sponsored by The Abundant Artist, #AbundantArtShow and today’s challenge is to show my work. My previous posts Luciana’s Portrait, Session One and Two display earlier effort. Today I would like to share a few intermediate works as I near the finish.

Almost Done!

As you can see the painting has developed significantly over the past few months. I’ve delayed signing the final version because I’m not quite ready to let go. I want to tweak the nose a bit more and I’ll probably mess with the left fist covered mostly be the right hand. As Karl says, you need to people to paint one to do the work and one to tell you when to stop.

Painting Pick-up Day for Art Spirit and Beyond

This morning I picked up my painting “Rock and Snow” from the John H. Baker Gallery on the campus of West Chester University. At the gallery I ran into my mentor Karl Kuerner who was busy picking up his own works too. I also had the opportunity to meet the Gallery’s namesake John Baker an art professor at the university. John and Karl told me that the exhibit was very well attended and received by the community. Nearly four hundred people visited the exhibit opening! More importantly, my wife is happy to have the painting back home in it’s rightful place above the couch in our family room.
